COVID vaccination offered to everyone over 50

Invitations to patients who are due for vaccination are being sent by TEXT message with a link you can click to book an appointment at Jericho Health Centre on Walton Street, OX2 6NW.  If we do not have a mobile number for you, providing us with one will greatly speed things up but we will try to reach you by other means, e.g. email or letter.

To speed up vaccinations being given, mass vaccination sites (such as the Kassam Stadium) are opening up and some pharmacies are offering the jab; these are being managed nationally.  Texts and letters are being sent directly to patients aged over 50.  If you receive one of these invitations it will provide the information you need to book your vaccination at one of these sites.  You will be able to do this by phone or online.  This may mean you get your vaccination sooner but you may need to travel further.

If you get an invitation from us and one from the national system you can choose where to book.  Please note it is important to be aware that you will need to have your second dose at the same place where you had your first dose and this cannot be changed.

We have made great progress in vaccinating our most vulnerable patients and we have now invited the final priority group (cohort 9).  As of 15 March everyone over 50, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, should have been contacted and offered a Covid-19 vaccination at our next available clinic.  If you are over 50 and have not received an invitation from the practice, please call us on 01865 242657.

Please be patient with us, we are working as fast as vaccine supplies are delivered to us.  Everyone will be vaccinated in time and we will contact you when it is your turn.  We will shortly begin offering second doses to people 11 weeks after their first.  A temporary disruption to national vaccine supply in April means those under 50 may have to wait a little longer.

Please do not call the practice to check when you will get the vaccine.  We need to keep phone lines open for those patients who are ill and need to talk to a GP.

IMPORTANT: We are unable to vaccinate you if you have coronavirus symptoms (cough, fever, loss of sense of taste or smell) or have tested positive in the last 4 weeks OR are currently in a COVID Vaccine Trial and have not been un-blinded.  If you have an appointment please cancel this and book another when the 4 weeks are up.

Please visit the NHS website or the Oxfordshire CCG website  for more information.
