Oxford's Out-of-hours GP Record Sharing Initiative

KES@Northgate is part of an organisation called OxFed (Oxford Federation for General Practice and Primary Care). All 20 Oxford city GP practices have joined OxFed.

OxFed was set up in 2015 by local GPs to help GP practices and primary care teams to work together to improve the health and care of people of all ages and backgrounds who live, study or work in Oxford.

The federation aims to:

  • provide safe, effective and person-centred healthcare for the community;
  • support collaborative working between its member practices and other organisations;
  • help practices share administration, management and other resources to improve the sustainability of general practice and the local NHS;
  • enhance the stability of its member practices, and;
  • improve the training & professional development of the teams working in our member practices.

OxFed has launched a new ‘Out-of-Hours’ GP record sharing initiative. This makes it possible for the health professionals working from the ‘out-of-hours’ health centres in Oxford or Abingdon, to view (with your permission) your GP medical record when we are closed.

KES@Northgate is pleased to be part of this initiative because we think this will help patients receive safer, better coordinated care when we are closed. However, if you are worried about confidentiality you can opt-out of sharing your medical record in this way.
