Ordering a repeat prescription

Please note:  Do not order more medication than you need.  To prevent stockpiling the doctors will not sign scripts that are requested too soon.

Repeat prescriptions are processed by reception and can be requested using any of the methods listed below:

  • The best way is to use the NHS App as it reduces the risk of errors and keeps you informed of progress. It's convenient (available 24/7) and simple (just tick a box).
  • Completing the Prescription Order form on our website.
  • Emailing reception with a list of your items or a scanned copy of your tear-off slip.
  • Using an alternative online account instead of the NHS App - such as Patient Access.
  • Handing your request in at the surgery reception.
  • Posting your request to us (with a stamped self-addressed envelope if you want the new script to be posted to you).

(If requesting by post or in person it is best if you can return the tear-off order slip from a previous prescription and indicate which items you need).

Please note: To avoid errors we are no longer accepting repeat prescription requests by telephone (except in rare circumstances - in which case please do not phone before 11am).

Using the NHS App reduced the risk of errors from entering complicated names and dosages or from unclear markings on paper slips.

Nominating a pharmacy for electronic prescriptions

You no longer need to collect a paper prescription to take to a pharmacy as we operate the NHS Electronic Prescription Service.  Simply 'nominate' the pharmacy of your choice and it will be sent directly to the chemist, once the GP has signed it, saving you time and effort.  To nominate a pharmacy you can provide us with their details, or you can walk into any pharmacy and instruct them to nominate themselves as the place to which you would like to collect your medication (this can be especially useful when you are away from home).  You can change your nomination whenever you like.

The NHS find a pharmacy tool can help you locate a suitable pharmacy.

Collections

Please note we require 24 hours (except weekends) from receipt of your request to process your prescription. Please allow two additional days if posting. Please indicate clearly what you wish us to do with your prescription once it has been authorised.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
