England’s NHS app will be available to use as a vaccine passport from today – but only for those who have had both doses of the jab.

You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or by tablet.  Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App.  It is recommend that patients register with the app before booking international travel.

If someone does not have access to a smartphone and knows that the country they are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, they can call the NHS helpline on 119 and ask for a letter to be posted to them.  This must be at least 5 days after they’ve completed their course of the vaccine.  A full course is currently 2 doses of any approved vaccine.  We expect the letter to take up to 7 days to reach you.

The letter will be sent to the address registered with your GP.  The 119 call handler you speak to will not be able to see your address to check this with you.  If you have recently moved house, make sure you’ve given your new address to your GP practice before calling 119.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE GP SURGERY ABOUT YOUR COVID VACCINATION STATUS AS WE CANNOT PROVIDE LETTERS TO PROVE YOU HAVE BEEN VACCINATED
