Patient Testing for COVID-19
COVID-19 testing is available to anyone with COVID-19 symptoms by visiting nhs.uk/coronavirus or calling 119 to book a test.
This is an antigen test, so it only works if people have symptoms, ideally between day 3 - 5. You are shown how to use a swab to take a sample from your nose and throat. You can visit a test centre or request a testing kit through the post.
Please Note
The type of test that checks if you've already had the virus (antibody test) is now available. It uses a blood sample taken by the Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant. This can be arranged for you when it is considered helpful by your doctor to assist with your diagnosis or treatment. Speak to your doctor about this - it cannot be arranged via the link provided above (which is to detect current cases of COVID-19).
