Repeat medication - only order what you need

Once you leave a pharmacy your medicines cannot be recycled or used by anyone else. This means that any you return are destroyed, even if you have never opened them. Before heading to the pharmacy, take a look in your medicine cabinet to see what you actually need. You may have ordered extra of a repeat prescription last time you went and forgot. Electronic Prescriptions

We are now using the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). This gives you the ability to have your prescription sent by us to any pharmacy you choose to collect your medicines from, without the need to pick up a paper prescription from the surgery.

You can now view your medical record, make appointments and order repeat prescriptions from anywhere in the world 24 hours a day. It's simple, quick and convenient and it means there is no need to queue or wait for the phone to be answered. To register simply ask at reception (you will need to confirm your identity by bringing 2 forms of ID into the practice, one of which must include a photo and one your current address, just so we can confirm it is you). When we are closed - phone 111 for the 'Out of Hours' service

If you feel you cannot wait until we re-open, please phone 111 for advice and/or to speak to a doctor. Do not go to the hospital A&E department unless it is an emergency. Oxford's 'out-of-hours' GP record sharing initiative

This new initiative makes it possible for health professionals working from the 'out-of-hours' health centres in Oxford and Abingdon to view (with your permission) your GP medical record if treating you when we are closed. We have provided more information about this record sharing arrangement and details of how to opt out, and the organisers - OxFed - have also produced this leaflet.

Missed breast screening invitations

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt announced that since 2009 because of a computer error thousands of women aged 68-71 did not receive an invitation to be screened for breast cancer.

People will understandably be concerned and anxious. For women who have been affected the advice from Public Health England is:

  • If you have been affected and are under the age of 72 you should receive a letter inviting you to an appointment for a catch up mammogram.
  • All women affected will receive a letter from the end of May.
  • Women over the age of 72 can contact the breast screening helpline number 0800 169 2692 to talk through the pros and cons of having breast screening.
