From 01 April 2015 the Care Act came into effect (replacing all existing adult social care legislation) with an emphasis on promoting the wellbeing of carers. Carers’ can now ask for an assessment, which can lead to receiving information about local support groups, practical support such as respite care, or a payment to spend on the things that make it easier to carry on caring. (This new direct payment replaces former ‘carers grants’ and ‘GP respite grants’). To see if you are eligible, contact 0845 050 7666 or complete the online form at www.carersoxfordshire.org.uk.
